The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that a landmark civil rights law protects gay and transgender workers from workplace discrimination, handing the movement for L.G.B.T. equality a long-sought and unexpected victory.

“An employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender defies the law,” Justice Neil M. Consumer air travel is slowly recovering after record-low passenger volumes in April, but to protect passengers and prevent the spread of coronavirus, airlines are making significant changes to the experience.

Among the recent measures put into place, this week carriers are starting to ask passengers to self-evaluate during the check-in process. On Thursday, Chicago-based United Airlines announced that it would ask passengers to self-assess their health and environmental exposure during the process of checking into each flight.  to continue reading:

Americans are slowly shedding their fear of flying. The number of travelers passing through Transportation Security Administration checkpoints has been steadily rising from its nadir of 87,534 on April 14 (compared with 2.2 million the year before) to 441,255 on June 7. Still, a Harris Poll conducted last month found that 48% of Americans said they would not be comfortable taking a flight until the pandemic is over.
