CSPI ANNOUNCES RECIPIENT OF 2018 SHAWN CORWIN-MYLAND AWARD
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 14, 2018 – The Board of Directors of Convention Sales Professionals International (CSPI) announced Russell R. Kice, CMP, CEM, HMCC, Senior National Sales Manager of the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia, as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Shawn Corwin-Myland Award bestowed by the association. A past president of CSPI (2016/2017), Kice has been an active member of CSPI since 2002, having served on the Board of Directors from 2012-2018.
According to CSPI the award is given annually in memory of Shawn Corwin-Myland a long-standing member and past president of the association who lost her battle with cancer in October of 2006. The award is given to a member in good standing who is considered by the board to be “a leader and contributor, dedicated and committed to the CSPI mission, hardworking and well respected in the industry and an individual who is passionate about the success of CSPI and other CSPI members.”
Kice, a native of the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania grew up in the resort and hospitality business before attending Johnson and Wales University in Providence RI where he graduated with his degree in hotel food and beverage management in 1985. Kice recently returned to Johnson & Wales University Online campus in pursuit of his MBA in Business Administration. He has held senior level management positions in hotels in South Sterling, PA, Lake Harmony, PA, Allentown, PA, Tannersville, PA, Scranton, PA, Philadelphia, PA and Rochester NY, He went to work for his alma mater in Practicum Education in 1996 before starting his own hospitality consulting business. Kice joined the Pennsylvania Convention Center – Philadelphia in 2002.
The Shawn Corwin-Myland award was presented at CSPI’s 27th Annual Conference and General Meeting held at the JW Marriott – Washington DC on Monday, February 12, 2018.
